American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers
In recognition of her work, Debra Schoenberg was named a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML).
Founded by highly regarded domestic relations attorneys, the AAML provides leadership that promotes the highest degree of professionalism and excellence in the practice of family law. To be represented by a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers is to be represented by a leading practitioner in the field of family law. There are currently more than 1650 Fellows in 50 states. The Academy Fellows are highly skilled negotiators and litigators who represent individuals in all facets of family law.
State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization
Debra Schoenberg has been designated as a Certified Family Law Specialist by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization.
The State Bar certifies attorneys as specialists who have gone beyond the standard licensing requirements. California Rule of Court 9.35 served as the basis for the creation of the State Bar Legal Specialization program. The program was intended to provide a method for attorneys to earn the designation of certified specialist in particular areas of law, increasing public protection and encouraging attorney competence. The program was the first of its kind in the United States, and it has served as a model for other state programs for certifying legal specialists around the nation. Attorneys who receive this designation must first sit for a rigorous exam in their area of specialty in addition to a thorough vetting process.
National Board of Trial Advocacy
Debra Schoenberg is a Board-Certified Family Law Trial Specialist by The National Board of Trial Advocacy (NBTA).
The NTBA is accredited by the American Bar Association to certify lawyers in the specialty areas of civil trial law, criminal trial law, family trial law, civil practice law and social security disability law. The process of becoming a Certified Specialist through NBTA requires a rigorous examination and vetting process to ensure that the applicant meets the highest levels of competency and professionalism.
As the result of an extensive and confidential review by members of the Bar, Debra Schoenberg has been repeatedly listed in the Directory of Super Lawyers including every year since 2014.

The process begins when lawyers are nominated for consideration. Those who receive high peer reviews undergo an additional verification process to make sure they are currently practicing and in good standing. Only then can these top lawyers be recognized by Best Lawyers.
American Jurist Institute
Debra Schoenberg has been named one of the American Jurist Institute’s (AJI) Top 10 Family Law attorneys for two consecutive years.
Each year, a select group of attorneys are called forward to accept one of the most prestigious awards the American Jurist Institute can bestow — selection to the AJI Top 10 Attorneys award. This exclusive honor is conferred to the top 10 attorneys in ten different practice areas for each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia. Candidates are identified either by an in-house research team, peer nominations or client nomination. Once candidates are nominated, an AJI research team uses a lengthy and thorough vetting process to select the top candidates. The Selection Council which is composed of both attorney and non-attorney members carefully consider the information presented to them and determine which attorneys possess the knowledge, skill, experience, expertise and success in their practice area to be one of the “Top 10 Attorneys” in their state.
Litigation Counsel of America
Debra Schoenberg has been named as a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America (LCA).
This fellowship exemplifies Ms. Schoenberg’s exceptional professionalism and impressive career achievements. The LCA is an invitation-only trial lawyer honorary society established to reflect the new face of the American bar. Membership is limited to 3,500 Fellows, representing less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers. Fellows are selected and invited into a Fellowship after being evaluated for effectiveness and accomplishment in litigation and trial work, along with ethical reputation. The number of full Fellowships has been kept at an exclusive limit by design, allowing qualifications, diversity, and inclusion to align effectively.
